Harvard Business Publishing Migrates 70 TB of Box Data to Microsoft 365 With CloudFuze

Harvard Business Publishing migrated 1,000+ users and 70 TB of data from Box to Microsoft 365 (OneDrive and SharePoint Online) with CloudFuze as the migration partner.

The migration brought the company’s content into one Microsoft 365 environment, right next to the tools its teams already used for email, meetings, and collaboration.

CloudFuze handled the migration end to end, including unique permission mapping across client folders, shared link processing, one-time and delta migration, and a fully managed migration service with a dedicated project manager.

Migration Challenges

Migration Challenges

Harvard Business Publishing’s Box environment held years of client collaboration, with many unique permissions set at the subfolder level. Every one of them had to be reported and mapped accurately because a single mismatch could expose client files or lock people out.

At 70 TB, the migration also had to preserve around 100,000 shared links that clients relied on, work through admin access blockers midway, and validate OneDrive and SharePoint Online domain settings before content could move.

CloudFuze’s Role

CloudFuze managed the migration from the initial feasibility review through cutover and data reconciliation. A dedicated server instance kept performance steady at this scale and a dedicated project manager hand-held the IT team at every stage. The full story of how our team mapped unique permissions, processed shared links, and resolved access blockers to keep the project moving is covered in this case study.
